Spring! and other news.
25.04.10
The spring has come to Trondheim, and I am loving it. Walking around outside, breathing fresh air, is something I haven't fully appreciated in a long time due to me staying at the university for a ridiculous amount of time lately. Now, however, I have a small window between the delivery of the term projects in numerical methods and linear statistical models, and the exam revision period.
Ah, the exam revision period. The time of year when the traffic at NTNU goes trough the roof. All the study halls and libraries are occupied from around 07:00 making it a royal pain to get a seat. Or at least it used to. This semester I am (like last semester) blessed with my own desk, which is nice.
In other news, I am looking into creating a MATLAB-section where I can publish various things I happen to code, that you people might find useful. It will probably be pretty basic, simple stuff at first, but hey, I have to start somewhere. ^__^
Finally, for those attending TMA4212, I have written a small note concerning converting an A0-poster (for the upcoming poster session) into sixteen A4-sheets making them printable from the printers at our computer labs. I will probably publish it when I've uploaded all the necessary files tomorrow, so stay tuned. :)
P.S.
If you have Spotify, listen to this album:

AMAZING album by Dave Brubeck.

Spam!
20.04.10
Recently the comment section on some of my blog posts has received a LOT of spam. I am talking 500 ++ comments of pure nonsense from some bots claiming to know where the best medicine can be bought (realpharmacy.com) and where you can go to satisfy the most colourful sexual orientation you might happen to have (I won't even mention which, it was disturbing indeed ^___^). And if I was looking for a new bank, I could always visit realbank.com, input my VISA-number and voilĂ , I.. would.. um, they didn't really say what was going to happen next.
Anyways, this is why you are now required to answer a (simple) question before adding comments from now on. If you happen to not know the answer to the question, Google can provide it in less than a second. Hopefully this will be enough to keep the spam-bots at bay for now.
EDIT
You are no longer required to answer the question. I figured out another way to deal with the problem. :)

Projects, projects, projects.
18.04.10
The term project in numerical methods is finally nearing completion. Finally. I have lost count of all the evenings/nights I've been sitting at school / home debugging my code. I am pretty sure I can implement Crank-Nicolson for most linear PDE's in my sleep by now. In the end, however, it has been worth it indeed. The result is something that I am proud to put my name on. I might publish it here when it has been graded and such for you to see if you are interested.
And if this project wasn't enough, the next one is due the upcoming Friday. In linear statistical models. Oh dear. I will finally get a chance to analyse my coffee-spilling-experiments conducted a couple of weeks ago. For those unfamiliar with this experiment, I basically walked about with a cup of coffee at varying acceleration and varying amount of liquid to establish just how much an average person spills if he/she is in a hurry or not. And I know, ground breaking science indeed. But hey, I had an excuse to put on my lab-coat so it wasn't all bad. ^__^
I will probably publish that report here as well, when the time is right. Until then, take care!
P.S: Have some Schrödinger! I know you like it.
